Springton Lake

A Pennsylvania School to Watch

Every Student. Every Day. No Matter What.

Approximately 950 students attend Springton Lake Middle School where the educational program is designed to provide students with a variety of experiences enabling them to push the limits of their potential and see themselves as valued and responsible members of their school environment. At Springton Lake, students are the center of an educational program where the opportunity to succeed exists and is encouraged.

Required and special area courses are conducted during a nine-period day. The curriculum includes instruction in language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, physical education, health, art, practical arts, music, consumer science, technology education and media studies. Students are also scheduled for a world language (French or Spanish) or support services in reading or special education. Accelerated math offerings are available for those who qualify.

Report cards are issued four times a year, in November, February, April and June.

Guidance services and a Student Assistance Program are available to provide needed services to students and their parents. An active student advisory program is also in place to support students' social and emotional development.

Interscholastic sports begin in seventh grade and include football, wrestling, track, cross country, lacrosse, tennis, field hockey, volleyball, basketball, cheerleading, soccer, baseball, and softball.

Students may participate in a variety of school-sponsored activities including sixth grade intramurals and clubs.

Students entering the sixth grade are required to have a physical which may be administered by the family physician. Dental exams are required when children enter seventh grade. Screenings for scoliosis and hearing take place in seventh grade.

Parents of students in grade six through eight are invited to meet their child's teachers at Springton Lake's annual Back-to-School Night in the fall. Feel free to contact your child’s school counselor if you have a concern or wish to meet with a grade level team.

An active parent teacher group at Springton Lake provides a liaison between parents, teachers, administrators, and the community. The school and community work closely together to enhance the social, cultural, and instructional opportunities of the students. Parents are encouraged to attend the monthly meetings of the PTG.
