Indian Lane strives to provide students with the skills they need to be successful in our ever-changing world. Our academic program is designed to meet the needs of our students as they pursue life in the 21st century. Students are encouraged to expand their knowledge through the integration of technology at all levels of the learning process. The school provides students with a variety of technological devices that will assist them in the learning process as well as developing the technical skills to create a variety of final products to demonstrate their learning.
The basic curriculum at Indian Lane includes instruction in language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, art, library, music, and physical education. Our excellent music program offers vocal programs as well as instrumental music instruction. Recorder instruction begins in third grade for all students. Optional formal instrument lessons begin in fourth grade with participation in the band or orchestra. Fifth grade students participate in our chorus.
Special education and support programs are available to all students. A variety of supports including a Mult-Tiered Support System(MTSS), math tutoring, reading support, and developmental counseling offer many opportunities to assist our students toward success and reaching their potential. Enrichment, acceleration, and independent study beyond the basic curriculum are available to students through the district's Academically Gifted Program (AGP) in grades two through five. The Accelerated Math Program is available in grades four and five.
At Indian Lane, health and safety are a number one priority. The school has a full-time school nurse, a safe foods list, and protocols for a variety of emergency situations. The school practices safety drills regularly, including fire drills once per month.
