Meet Ms. Cancelosi
I am very excited to begin my ninth year at ILES. This year will be my third year in fourth grade. Previously I have taught 2nd grade, I was the interventionist (teaching students reading and math skills individually or in small groups), a one-on-one aide for a student, and a daily substitute. Reading is one of my favorite things and I can't wait to share novels with students and discover new favorites.
I received my teaching degree from West Chester University and just finished my masters degree in reading there, as well. Rose Tree Media School District has a special place in my heart because I am a graduate of Penncrest High School. I really loved the schools, my teachers, and the opportunities available to me throughout my years here.
When I’m not at school, I love to spend time with my dog. His name is Winston and I adopted him from a rescue organization called To Love a Canine. He is a Jack Russell/Rat Terrier/Chihuahua mix that LOVES to cuddle. During the summer we sit outside a lot so he can chase the rabbits and sunbathe. I love to watch him and read with a good cup of coffee. I also love superheroes (if you couldn’t tell), playing video games or board games, and going to yoga or cycle classes. I'm a certified aerial yoga instructor and like to teach yoga on the weekends. I'm also a referee for college volleyball in the fall. I love the sport, and it is so cool to watch the game up close! In the spring, I'm a coach for Girls On The Run, a fun after-school program for girls in grades 3-5. We have lots of fun working our way up to a 5k run and building confidence along the way.
My favorite book series is Fablehaven. I also really love Harry Potter. My favorite colors are teal and black. I don't eat many sweets, but I love Haribo gummy bears and dark chocolate. Brussels sprouts are my favorite food, which is funny because I hated them as a kid. Fall is my favorite season because I love the cool weather, changing colors of leaves, and a good scarf. The Flash is my favorite superhero because he always makes the right choice and helps everyone, even when the right choice is a hard choice to make.
I can’t wait to learn all about you and hear about your summer! We’re going to have a fun, exciting year!
