Imagine a school where students enjoy learning and excel on standardized tests; where teachers are dedicated and constantly looking for the best way to meet the needs of their students; and where parents are committed to and supportive of the children and teachers.  Where students of all abilities are given the opportunity to interact with each other as equals.  A school that prides their selves on creating an inclusive environment.  Indian Lane Elementary is just such a place.

Our school serves more than 470 students in grades K-5.  It is located in a residential neighborhood in Middletown Township.  The school has also been rewarded by the Pennsylvania Department of Education for maintaining high scores on the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) and earned high scores for performance according to the Pennsylvania School Performance Profile.

Indian Lane strives to provide students with the skills they need to be successful in our ever-changing world.  Our academic program is designed to meet the needs of our students as they pursue life in the 21st century.  Students are encouraged to expand their knowledge through the integration of technology at all levels of the learning process.  The school has a fully-equipped laptop and iPad cart as well as SmartBoards, Apple TVs, and MacAirs in each room.  In addition, all staff members have updated webpages and e-mail accounts through which they can communicate with parents.

The basic curriculum at Indian Lane includes instruction in language arts, mathematics, science (with a fully-stocked science lab), social studies, art, vocal music, library, and physical education.  Children have the opportunity to participate in instrumental music instruction beginning in grade four.  Recorder instruction begins in grade three.  Students in grade five participate in our chorus.  Students in grades 1-5 also have the opportunity to participate in the wide offering of clubs and intramurals before and after school hours.  One of the clubs highlights, News on the Lane, is a live-streamed daily broadcast run by fifth grade students.

Special Education programs are provided to meet the needs of many students.  We also offer a variety of support programs using a Muti-Tiered System of Supports approach.  Enrichment, acceleration and independent study beyond the basic curriculum are available to students through the district's Academically Gifted Program (AGP) and the Accelerated Math Program in grades four and five.

Indian Lane has an active and supportive Parent/Teacher Group (PTG), sponsoring over ten school-wide events each year.  Our school welcomes visitors and is proud to share information about our programs. Tours can be arranged during regular school hours, which are 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  Please call the school office to make an appointment or if you need more information.  To reach the building website, go to www.rtmsd.org and click on “Select a School.”
